World CP Day!

Today is World CP Day, an opportunity to celebrate and support those living with cerebral palsy and help to build a more accessible future for everyone!

Our CTD team can address several common areas of concern among children who have cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy can look very different from child to child, and Occupational Therapy can work with all levels of need. Whether your child struggles with muscle stiffness, muscle weakness, or poor coordination and balance, we can help!

Occupational Therapy can work to improve independence in meaningful daily activities, like getting dressed, using the restroom, eating, playing, and successfully participating in school. OT will address foundational skills needed for these activities, such as reaching for objects functionally, core and upper body strength, dexterity, using both hands together to manipulate objects, and so much more. Occupational Therapy is also effective for establishing compensatory strategies to make these meaningful daily activities as successful as possible, and your OT can collaborate with Speech and Physical Therapists to help problem-solve challenges within other disciplines as well.

Improved independence leads to improved quality of life for your child and your family!
