Story of Catarina, 4 years and Lucca, 18 months

Our beautiful daughter is 4 years young with the spunk, energy, and attitude of about a 14 year old. Her “super powers” are having the ability to be in touch with her senses at a level most people can’t and wanting to do so many things at once. These super powers can also be known as Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD.

Thanks to Miss Caitlin, Catarina has been able to turn her diagnosis into “super powers ” in which she can cope with them rather than being taken down by them. Miss Caitlin has taught Catarina how to: slow down, focus on one task at a time, be in tune with her body and how it works as a team, how to cope with different textures and overall how to adapt plus cope with her environment rather than being overwhelmed.

Our 1 1/2 year old son had a stroke just before birth which resulted in no use of his left arm or leg, infantile spasms/seizures, and cerebral palsy. These are what we call his “super powers:” ability to adapt and modify movements to get what he needs, ability to warm your heart with a smile and of course the heart of a true warrior that is determined to reach his goals (or toys!)

We had already been going to Connect the Dots for his big sissy and asked if they could help Lucca too. They had just started an aquatic program and we jumped on it!

We started therapy with the small goal of Lucca being able to sit up for his 1st Birthday, 1 month away. That goal was reached within 3 weeks!!! Miss Sarah continued to work with Lucca each week and then the magic really started to happen. We saw him start to army crawl, sit up longer on his own, and overall now enjoy life as he was more mobile!! Now aquatic therapy in conjunction with PT has given him abilities beyond what we could ever imagine!

Where do you start to begin to write about someone who has helped your son THRIVE!? When we started with Miss Sophia a few months ago, Lucca was sitting up and army crawling, but honestly had not much muscle tone to really allow himself to do much else. He wasn’t using his left arm or leg either (side the stroke affected). Now he is STANDING! He is WALKING along furniture! He is PULLING himself up. He is doing a modified CRAWL and starting to use his left side! Lucca is truly THRIVING! Miss Sophia we are forever grateful for you!

The magic of Connect the Dots lives within each and every therapist. They each have the talent to connect, understand and empathize with each child. It truly is a very inspirational thing to watch each and every session!

Our children’s lives have forever been changed. Now they are finally able to connect and interact with each other… build a bond as brother and sister. We truly can’t express enough with any words how thankful we are for Connect the Dots!!

Thank you for loving our family like it’s your own!
